We have so much to be thankful for here in the United States.

But the situation is much different in other countries around the world.

Now a local charity is working to give some of those countries a better future.

Maisha, a non-profit, is hosting the Light of the Future gala which is where you can get involved.

The word means "life" and that is what the organization works to bring to orphans and widows.

The Light of the Future gala starts at 5 p.m. Saturday with a silent auction at the Cox Convention Center.
