OKLAHOMA CITY – Breaking the smoking habit is the focus of a nationwide event Thursday.

Oklahomans are invited to join the rest of the country for the Great American Smokeout.

The yearly event, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, encourages smokers to join the thousands who have quit.

New data shows the adult smoking rate in our state has dropped to historic lows this year.

For advice on how to drop the habit, call the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
