OKLAHOMA CITY - Sadly, our state has one of the highest divorce rates in the country.

However, we at NewsChannel 4 know a few couples who are beating the odds.

Lance West is the cook around his castle and his audience consists of his two dogs, Herbie and Rudy.

Lance says, "Herbie, treat? Rudy wants a treat!"

While we all know "Danger" as a bit of a jokester, he gets much more serious when he talks about the love of his life.

Lance said, "When I saw her across the room in that restaurant, I fell in love."

Lance and Terri West have been married since 1992 and have had two wonderful kids that are both in college.

They are now missing that famous Lance West humor.

He said, "Same five jokes."

Terri said, "When our kids realized all the things he said that were funny are just lines from movies, they were like 'Dad!"

For 21 years, Lance and Terri have been building a life together.

Each is fully aware of the other's commitment to their marriage.

Terri said, "I think he loves me unconditionally. And so, I think there's that sense that I'm treated a lot like, again, the Bible says, 'Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church' and I think that he does. And that's a very wonderful place to be as a woman in a marriage."

Lance said, "She is the kindest person you'll ever know, she's giving to a fault, generous with her time, she loves everyone unconditionally and she kinda keeps me in line, I think; tries to anyway."

Their secret to being together forever is a strong Christian faith and this pledge.

Lance said, "If you look over there at the piano, on the top it says, 'Never, never, never give up.' And I think that's really the philosophy, is that divorce can't be an option. If you go in saying, 'Well, if it doesn't work out, there's always divorce,' then that's hanging out there. And it just has to be regardless of what happens along the way, there are going to be peaks and valleys, but never give up."
