Death toll rises in Philippines after Typhoon

 The death toll of this month’s Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines has risen to 5,209, the government-run Philippines News Agency reported Friday, citing the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The number of injured was at 23,404, with 1,582 still missing, PNA reported.

About 9,000 U.S. troops are supporting the operation in the Philippines, a U.S. military official said. U.S. military assets have delivered approximately 623,000 pounds of relief supplies.
