Fans mark 33 years since John Lennon gunned down in New York

NEW YORK – It has been 33 years since legendary Beatles singer John Lennon was gunned down outside his New York apartment.

A crowd of Beatles fans gathered Sunday in Manhattan to mark the anniversary.

They sang songs, lit candles and placed flowers at the “Strawberry Fields” area of Central Park.

Lennon was shot and killed Dec. 8, 1980 by Mark David Chapman who is serving a life sentence.
