Lebanon car bomb explosion kills politician and 5 others

LEBANON – A deadly explosion rocks the capitol of Lebanon early this morning, killing former diplomat with American ties.

Officials are confirming at least five people were killed, including former Lebanese Ambassador to the U.S., Mohammah Chatah.

He’s also the former fiance minister of Lebanon.

At least 70 more people were injured in the blast.

It was reportedly caused by a car bomb, targeting Chatah’s convoy, on his way to a meeting.

According to reports from CNN, Chatah was a staunch critic of militant group Hezbollah.

So far, no one is claiming responsibility for his attack.
