NEW: Suspected home invader dies after being shot by homeowner, an OHP Trooper

A suspected burglar was shot and killed by an off-duty Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper.

Oklahoma City Police say around 6:45 p.m. the trooper went to his apartment parking garage in the 200 block of NE 2nd street in Deep Deuce. shooting

It was there that investigators say the trooper was confronted by the suspect who had a gun. The suspect told the trooper to go back into his apartment.

Police say once inside, the trooper managed to get his weapon and that's when he shot the suspect.

The suspect was transported to the hospital where he died during surgery.

Police say the suspect could be connected to an attempted kidnapping earlier Friday in the 400 block of Central. WP_20131227_19_18_16_Pro

Officials have confirmed that the alleged suspect is 22-year-old Anthony King, who escaped from the Oklahoma City Correctional Center.

It is not known if the trooper will be placed on an administrative leave.
