Grass fire shuts down part of State Highway 81 near County Rd. 1470 back open

UPDATED: According to officials, the Southbound lanes of State Highway 81 and County Road 1470, in Grady County are now back open.


GRADY COUNTY, Okla. -Fire crews battled a grass fire just south of Chickasha near State Highway 81 that has shut down part of the highway.

Reports of a large grass fire in Grady County near State Highway 81 and County Road 1470 came in just before 3:00 p.m.

Troopers have been called to assist fire crews.

Dangerous visibility due to smoke has forced crews to shut down the Southbound lanes of State Highway 81 and County Road 1470.
