EDMOND -Smoke and flames from a large grass fire Saturday got a lot of people’s attention in the Edmond area.

The fire started in Deer Creek around 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Crews were called to the area of northwest 192nd and Meridian.

Several fire crews from all over came together to battle the fire.

Crews from Oklahoma City, Edmond, Piedmont and Deer Creek were all on scene.

Fire officials say a controlled burn somehow got out of hand.

Several bails of hay went up in flames, causing a fire which burned for several hours.

Officials continued breaking down bails throughout the night, trying to prevent the fire from re-igniting.
