WASHINGTON – First Lady Michelle Obama has invited Moore, Oklahoma Fire Chief Gary Bird to sit in her box for tonight’s State of the Union Address.

For more than 30 years, Americans who live out the topics to be discussed in the State of the Union Address have been invited to join the First Lady in her viewing box.

This year, Chief Bird gets to be one of them.

Bird started his career as a Ninnekah volunteer firefighter in 1981, according to WhiteHouse.gov.

After four years there he was hired in Moore and worked his way up the ranks.

Bird became Deputy Fire Chief in Feb. 2003 and then Fire Chief in June of 2012.
