Garfield County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a burglary in which $5,000 dollars in firearms were stolen from a rural residence while the homeowner was out of town.

The crime happened between Jan. 13 and Jan 26, at a farm in the 19000 block of S. 90th, east of Bison.

The stolen weapons included handguns, shotguns and rifles.

Sheriff Jerry Niles praised the victim for keeping record of the weapons' serial numbers.

He said any attempt to sell stolen property at pawn shops will alert a national crime database and help authorities track down the burglars.

Anyone with information on the burglary could receive a reward by calling Garfield County Crime Stoppers at (580) 233-6233.
