Michigan State defensive back Darqueze Dennard is being presented with his Jim Thorpe Award Tuesday night at a banquet at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

Dennard beat out former Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert and Lamarcus Joyner of Florida State for the honor.

Last years winner, Mississippi State's Johnthan Banks, is in town as well to hand Dennard his award.

In addition to the Thorpe Award, Dennard receives a pair of cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and he attended the Grizzlies-Thunder game Monday night.

Dennard ranked among the top of the Big 10 in interceptions, passes defended, and pass break ups.
