The Jim Thorpe Award is one of the most prestigious awards given in college football.

29 men have earned the award with Darqueze Dennard of Michigan State picking up his hardware Tuesday night at a banquet.

Over the years, the Thorpe Award has earned a reputation for it's winners being just that, winners on and off the field.

Darqueze Dennard is no different.

After only receiving one scholarship to play D-1 football, Dennard worked his way up the depth chart, to the Thorpe Award and promises to be a high round draft pick in this April's NFL draft.

Dennard has even earned the respect of a couple of others who have had the chance to call the Thorpe Award their own.

Bob Barry, Jr spoke not only to Dennard Tuesday night, but former Thorpe winners Roy Williams of the Sooners and Johnthan Banks of Mississippi State.
