TULSA, Okla. – Police say armed robbers broke into a man’s home early Monday morning and stapled his lips together.

Officers say three men armed with shotguns broke into an apartment at the Windsor Village Apartments around 1 a.m. and demanded money and drugs.

Three adults and a toddler were in the apartment at the time.

The victims recognized the suspects as former neighbors who had been evicted after they reported them for drug use.

Investigators believe the men stapled one of the victim’s lips with a carpet staple gun as a warning against cooperating with police.

According to the police report, three of the victims were bound with their hands behind their backs and their feet to their hands.

The robbers left the home with computers, laptops and a black Dodge Challenger.

Angel Rodriguez and Mario Mediano were captured just a few hours later after the vehicle was spotted at a nearby Whataburger.

They face possible charges of first-degree burglary, armed robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Cpl. Brandon Disney, with the Tulsa Police Department, said, “Apparently, these people reported drug use and that’s why the suspects were initially evicted from next door. One of the victims tonight had a staple from a carpet staple gun put in his face, on his upper lip, so two small puncture marks. EMSA removed that.”

The third suspect remains on the loose.
