BETHANY – A Bethany 7th grader hailed a hero for keeping his cool during a house fire.

You might remember this, 12-year-old Brayden Judkins awoke to smoke and flames filling his home along Willow Avenue. He was home alone while his mother was at work.

With the fire blocking his way out, he busted through his bedroom window and ran to a neighbor’s home for help.

Friday, the Bethany Fire Department surprised Brayden with an award for his bravery.

Firefighters say seeing their “Fire Prevention” education put to the test (with a positive outcome) is rewarding.
