OKLAHOMA CITY -An elderly man who police say was simply trying to help a friend became the victim of a carjacking.

The 80-year-old man had agreed to take 29-year-old Leanne Putnam to a tax preparer.

According to the police affidavit, the woman allegedly pulled out a screwdriver and threatened the man, saying he was driving too slow.

Authorities say he was eventually pushed out of the car.

After being pushed out the door, the man was also hit in the back by the car door as Putnam allegedly drove off.

Nearby construction workers heard the man’s calls for help and raced to his assistance.

Police say Putnam returned the elderly man’s car after they had called her.

She claims the man got out of the car on his own.

After she returned the vehicle, police say they found a screwdriver in the passenger seat.

Putnam is now facing carjacking charges.
