NEW JERSEY – A New Jersey teenager is suing her parents.

She moved out of their home months ago, but she wants to take legal force to get her mom and dad to continue paying for her private high school tuition and her upcoming college tuition.

This week the family ended up in court.

Her parents told the judge that after she was suspended from school for missing class they tried to lay down some rules – like getting rid of her boyfriend and sticking to curfew.

She refused to follow those rules and that resulted in her moving out.

But then, came the lawsuit.

The judge didn’t seem too sympathetic to the teenager’s situation.

“Are we going to condone or open the gates to a 12-year-old to sue for an X-Box, 0r how about a 15-year-old asking for a 60-inch flat panel TV.”

The judge ended up denying the teenager’s request for immediate emergency funds from her parents, but the case does move forward, with another hearing next month.
