NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma’s basketball coach is being recognized for the hard work he has put in for his team this year.

During his third year at OU, Lon Kruger, has been named the 2014 AP Big Coach of the Year.

The Sooners men’s basketball team finished second in the conference this year with a 23-8 overall record.

According to Sooner Sports, Kruger is giving his team most of the credit.

“This award is very obviously a reflection of how well our guys have played, the progress they’ve made and the strong finish they had to the regular season.”

The Sooners have had a very good season this year, with their No. 17 AP ranking being their highest since 2009.

Kruger is hoping to keep the momentum going and finish strong in the postseason.
