Oklahoma hospital patient arrested after hijacking an ambulance

PURCELL, Okla. – According to OHP’s Brian Orr, a male patient from an area hospital took off in an ambulance from St. Anthony’s Hospital Saturday evening.

Authorities were able to track the ambulance by using the internal GPS.

Purcell Police department set up “stop sticks” near mile marker 95 on I-35 southbound.

The “stop sticks” were able to puncture two of the ambulance’s tires, the patient continued for another 2-3 miles until he was forced to stop.

Purcell Police took the patient into custody near mile marker 92, without incident.

Authorities have not released the name of the patient at this time.
