REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - New video released from a train station is providing a lesson to the public on why it's important to pay attention around train tracks.

In a push to promote public safety, Caltrain officials released a video of a close call last month.

A group of pedestrians run across the tracks in front of an express train and make it safely to the other side.

Moments later, a man completely ignores the warning gate and ducks under the arms to cross the tracks.

He runs right into the path of a speeding train.

Amazing, he barely clears the tracks before the train passes, with the conductor blaring the horn.

Caltrain is the commuter line that runs between San Francisco and surrounding counties.

So far this year, three people have died on Caltrain tracks.
