CHICKASHA, Okla. – Lately, many children have been in the news for finding their parents guns and shooting another person, and sometimes even themselves.

A local police department is looking to put an end to this, by giving away free gun locks.

The Chickasha Police Department announced they are participating in the Project ChildSafe Program.

Childsafe is a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about safe and responsible firearm ownership and storage.

At no charge, the Chickasha Police Department will be offering gun locks to anyone who wants them.

To pick up your free gun lock, stop by the police station at 101 N 6th Street in Chickasha or contact a Chickasha Police Officer.
