Child’s family speaks out on malicious playground prank

UPDATE:  The toddler who was cut in a playground booby-trapped with straight-edged razors glued to monkey bars and slides talks about his injury.

According to WQAD, two-year-old Madden Jenks was on his dad Jayson’s shoulders during an outing at Millenium Park in East Moline when he was hurt.

The toddler said it felt like his finger “cracked open.”

Jayson Kenny said that all of the razor blades were strategically placed so when you grabbed them, they would hit your wrists or hands.

Reports say the police are taking fingerprints of evidence found at the park to pursue possible leads.


EAST MOLINE, Ill. – A malicious prank at a playground is responsible for injuring a 2-year-old child.

Police in East Moline, Illinois say the toddler was playing on the playground equipment at Millennium Park when he received quite a few cuts.

Upon closer inspection, WQAD says officers found several razor blades glued to various parts of the playground, including the handles of the monkey bars.

Authorities are now searching for the persons responsible for putting the razor blades throughout the playground.

Fortunately, the child’s mother says her son will be okay.
