International fugitive returned to Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY – Today an international fugitive has been returned to Oklahoma City to face a court of law for the alleged rape of a child.

Authorities say Phillip Vaughn Cox is facing allegations of two counts of rape in the first degree with a child under the age of 14.

Cox was originally charged with the crimes in late 2002.

According to reports, authorities believe Cox had been living in the Philippines for the last 12 years and that he thought the statute  of limitations would expire for his alleged crimes while he was hiding out there.

Cox allegedly taunted officials at the Geary Police Department via social media about getting away with the charges.

He was arrested at his home north of Manila by agents from the Philippines Bureau of Immigration.
