DETROIT – A little girl who stole the hearts of an entire basketball team and community has died.

Lacey Holsworth was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and was undergoing cancer treatments when she met Adreian Payne, one of the stars of the Michigan State basketball team.

They immediately became friends, and she lovingly referred to him as ‘Superman.’

The team took her to several games and Payne even carried her around the court on Senior Night.

Payne helped her cut down the net after they won the Big Ten tournament, a picture which became the cover photo of both of their Twitter accounts.

On Wednesday morning, Lacey’s family announced her death.

Her parents posted on her Instagram, Missprincesslacey, about the loss.

It said, “Princess Lacey has achieved the ultimate victory. She now dances among angels… The world is a better place because you were in it. Our hearts are broken. We love you Doll. Dance all night… Mommy and Daddy, Will, Mitchell, and Luke #LoveLikeLacey.”
