It had more ups than downs, but defense propelled the Thunder to an impressive 100-86 win over the Grizzlies.

With the win, the Thunder take a 1-0 series advantage over Memphis.

Kevin Durant played a stellar contest scoring a game high 33 points on an efficient 13 of 25 shooting. Durant also notched 8 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.

Russell Westbrook had 23 points and had a playoff career high 10 rebounds. Westbrook didn't play in the 3rd quarter fueling speculation he was injured, but checked in during the 4th and closed out the contest with high intensity.

Serge Ibaka's presence down low made a huge impact. Serge had 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. The entire Grizzlies roster combined for 4 blocks.

The defense allowed the Thunder to get out and run as they outscored Memphis 32-13 in fast break points.

The Grizzlies never led, but did make a surge in the 3rd quarter. OKC led by as many as 25 but Memphis outscored the Thunder 31-13 in the third frame to pull to within 2. However, Caron Butler turned back to clock with an impressive jam that gave the Thunder momentum to close the game.

Game 2 is Monday night at 7 at the Peake.
