ALVIN, Texas – When your baby is threatened, the animal instincts kick in and you fight back.

A Texas mother bit off a dog’s ear to save her 2-year-old daughter who was being attacked.

KHOU reported the family was watching a friend’s Pit Bull when it attacked the toddler.

“When he smelled her, that’s when you saw it flip because I think he smelled my dog on her,” mother Chelsi Camp told KHOU

Camp said she didn’t know what else to do but fight back.

Officers quickly arrived and were forced to shoot the animal.

It is now several weeks after the March attack and Camp said her daughter is recovering well.

“I can actually hold her again,” Camp said. “She’s a strong little girl and a fighter. She’s meant to be here.”
