GREENSBURG, Pa. (CNN) – A 38-year-old Pennsylvania woman is accused of selling heroin from her hospital room while she was in intensive care.

Authorities say they seized more than 300 bags of suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia, cash and cell phones from a room at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.

The woman was admitted earlier this month for an unrelated medical issue.

Hospital staff say they became suspicious after noticing how many people came to visit her.

Jennifer Miele, vice president of marketing, Excela Westmoreland Hospital, said, “What they noticed last week was an exorbitant amount of foot traffic happening to a patient’s room. Not people coming to stay two hours, but coming to stay two minutes. They thought that was really odd so they contacted security at Excela Westmoreland Hospital.”

Police conducted surveillance of the room and sent in an informant to make a purchase.

Authorities say she allegedly kept the drugs inside her purse and drawers in the room.

She also allegedly injected heroin into her IV system while in the hospital.

Officers are now investigating how she got the drugs inside the facility.
