NEW JERSEY – One of the 80s favorite toys, the Rubik’s Cube, is officially “over the hill”.

The iconic, multicolored cube turns 40 this year.

In honor of the occasion, the liberty science center opened an entire exhibit dedicated to it.

“Beyond Rubik’s Cube” explores not only the cube, but its influence on science, technology and the arts over its four decades.

“It’s led to musicians using Rubik’s Cube to make music. Each twist corresponds with bringing on a new instrument or new sound, so you can make music here,” says Paul Hoffman, Liberty Science Center CEO.

The New Jersey showing is just the first stop on a nationwide tour of the exhibit.
