UPDATE: Suspicious package deemed safe, streets to be reopened near downtown OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY – Police say a suspicious package has been deemed safe on Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., police were called to an area near the Oklahoma County Jail after some sort of a package was discovered.

Emergency crews blocked off streets in the area, including Shartel and Couch.

At the time, Oklahoma City firefighters, EMSA, Oklahoma City police and bomb squad units were on the scene.

Around 2 p.m., officials say the package was deemed safe.

Streets are being reopened to downtown traffic.
