During Kevin Durant’s MVP ceremony, hundreds of fans braved the heat to get a glimpse of the newly crowned MVP.

After accepting the award, KD spoke briefly to the fans lined up outside the Thunder practice facility on North Lincoln.

Many signs labeled KD as OKC’s MVP.

The fans say the award is a source of civic pride.

“It brings a lot of good attention to our city and he’s a really good guy,” said Terry Tsotigh.

“I think it’s great for our state, for the city. He’s our hero,” said MacKenzie Western.

“We’re not just known for tornadoes anymore. We’re known for KD and what a quality young man he is,” said Becky Hopper.

Durant told the fans he hopes the bring another trophy, an NBA championship, to the city soon as well.

That got the loudest applause of the day among the fans.
