MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A North Carolina boy survived a close encounter with a lightning strike and a falling tree.

Bryan Graves, Devante’s grandfather, said, “Three inches over, he’d be gone.”

The damage to their home may be massive but the Graves are counting their blessings, starting with 6-year-old Devante.

He said, “I was in my room and the lightning hit me on my shoulder.”

It was around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when a gust of wind sent a large tree through the family’s roof.

Bryan Graves said, “It hit so hard, it just, ‘Boom.’ It shook the whole house.”

The tree went into Devante’s room as he sat on his bed, playing video games.

Graves said, “The tree limb went through his room, inches from him on the bed. God just blessed him.”

Luckily, this tough guy only walked away with a few bruises.
