Four years ago people scrambled for safety at a Love's store near I-40 and Choctaw Road with a powerful tornado quickly approaching.

General Manager Warren Waltz says he will never forget that day.

Waltz said, "We filled the coolers, freezers, restrooms tried to get as many walls between us and the storms that we could.  We hunkered down and rode it out. It came fairly rapidly and we were able to dig our way out."

After coming out of their safe spots, Waltz says the devastation was shocking.

He said there was, "A lot of devastation.  Roof gone, walls gone."

Luckily there were no major injuries.

Now, four year later, Love's has rebuilt a brand new travel center on property near the old store.

Waltz said this new travel center has much more to offer.

The new location has a McDonalds, a Subway and a truck tire center.

Waltz is happy with the new store.

"We're back bigger and better than we've ever been." said Waltz. "We get to be back in the community and our customers get a lot better product."

The store officially opens today.
