KFOR honored with Great Plains Award for Best General News Video

OKLAHOMA CITY – As NewsChannel 4 prepares to celebrate 65 years in broadcasting, KFOR.com and KFOR staff were recently honored with a Great Plains Award for Best General News Video.

The particular video that was awarded this honor was the news video Six months of healing for Moore tornado victims and what is to come.

The video followed some of the most seriously injured victims six months after the terrible storm.

KFOR staff was also a finalist in the Spot News category for a video taken the day of the Moore tornado.

As Bob Moore Chopper 4 Pilot Jon Welsh flew above the damage, NewsChannel 4 viewers saw the destruction for the first time.

The Great Plains Journalism Awards promote the highest standards of journalism.

It is a regional contest honoring print, web and magazine journalists for outstanding stories, photography and design. The eight-state competition includes Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.
