EDMOND, Okla. – Storms one year ago today spawned a tornado on the east side of Edmond.

The new Mercy Surgery and Fitness Center was just preparing to open near 15th St. and I-35 when the twister hit.

The storms damaged the roof, windows, ceilings, floors and walls and the grand opening was pushed back more than a year.

It is now scheduled to be up and running later this summer.

The fitness center part of the complex will open in just a few weeks, according to Mercy’s website.

The grand opening is set for May 31.
