After a whirl of controversy, it seems one ‘working-class’  horse will have the chance to win the prestigious Triple Crown.

California Chrome has become a household name after winning his last six races, including the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.

However, before being allowed to compete for a Triple Crown, officials at the Belmont Stakes said California Chrome would not be allowed to wear his nasal strips.

The horse has worn the strips during those last six victories and his owners threatened to pull out of the race if the rule did not change.

According to Sports Illustrated, California Chrome will be allowed to wear a nasal strip while competing in the Belmont Stakes.

Currently, only 11 horses have claimed the Triple Crown with the last winner coming in 1978.
