Firefighters respond to unusual call, rescue bear from tree

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – You have probably heard of firefighters rescuing a cat from a tree, but a bear?

That is exactly what happened in Broken Arrow, Okla.

Firefighters were called to a home to get a black bear out of a tree.

Tranquilizers were used to put the animal to sleep.

That is when wildlife officials realized the bear had its foot caught in one of the branches.

Local fire crews then used a ladder truck to carry the bear down to safety.

The bearĀ is expected to be released back into the wild after a health screening.
