OSBI investigating police-involved shooting

OKMULGEE COUNTY, Okla. – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a police-involved shooting in Okmulgee County.

Officials say the U.S. Marshals Service requested the OSBI investigate a police-involved shooting involving a U.S. Marshal Task Force member.

According to reports the shooting occurred along Highway 75 between Okmulgee and Tulsa by the Duck Creek Casino when task force members attempted to stop a vehicle driven by a murder suspect.

Authorities say the suspect attempted to run over a Tulsa police officer assigned to the task force.

The officer fired his weapon once at the vehicle.

According to reports the bullet struck the vehicle but not the driver.

Officials say the driver stopped the vehicle and fled the area on foot.

He was later apprehended.

Investigators say they are interviewing task force  members involved and any witnesses to the shooting.

Once the investigation is complete, a prosecution report will be given to the district attorney.
