Train collides with van after driver ignores warnings, pushed a quarter mile

OKLAHOMA CITY – Police have one man in custody and another person is in the hospital after a train collides with a minivan overnight.

Officials said just after 11:30 p.m. the driver ignored the warning signals near S.W. 29th St. and Newcastle Rd. and tried to beat the train.

The train plowed into the van, pushing it about a quarter of a mile.

According to police, the driver ran after the crash but later came back to the scene.

He was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and was taken to the hospital to be checked.

The passenger in the van was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials have not released the names of those involved.
