SEATTLE – Last night, the city council unanimously passed an ordinance that bumps up the minimum wage to $15 an hour, the highest in the nation.

The plan includes a phase-in of the wage increase over several years, with special considerations for small businesses.

The increase was spear-headed by Mayor Ed Murray.

Murray believes the increase will help the city.
