LONDON – Staff members at a nursing home in England were shocked after an 89-year-old World War II veteran went missing from their facility.

They were even more shocked by where he was found.

Workers at The Pines called police after 89-year-old Bernard Jordan didn’t return to the center on Thursday evening.

He was last seen wearing a gray jacket with his war medals.

After officers could not find any sign of Jordan, the nursing home received a call from a man in France.

According to the Guardian, Jordan was found safe in Normandy for the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
