LeBron opting out of contract with the Heat, becoming a free agent

MIAMI, Fla. – An all-star basketball player is opting out of his contract, becoming a free agent.

According to ESPN, LeBron James’ agent told the Miami Heat that James will exercise his early termination option and become an unrestricted free agent.

The deadline for James to decide whether to opt out of the final two years of his contract with the Heat was June 30.

He was scheduled to make $20 million next season.
