OKLAHOMA CITY - What started out as a quiet morning on SW 138th ended with a suspect chase and a woman in handcuffs.

Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow with Oklahoma City Police said, "The homeowner  heard someone messing with the door and apparently got on the phone immediately and contacted police."

Investigators say April Giddens-King was trying to get inside a home.

The fact that it was morning and the house is located on the corner of a well-traveled street didn't deter King.

Wardlow said, "It's a very bold daring attempt to get inside the house. It’s 10 o'clock in the morning, there's people around, people are up and about for the day."

As the owner called police, the suspect ran away, but she left something behind.

Wardlow said, "As she was running away from the house, the homeowner was able to look outside and see that she had dropped a gun."

The family knew it was only a matter of time before king would return to the scene looking for the weapon.

When she resurfaced, they were prepared.

Wardlow said, "It was about ten minutes later she came back again. It was the second time that family was able to get a good suspect description."

Family members followed King while they called police. She finally stopped near  SW 89th street.

King was taken into custody. Detectives recovered the gun and took pictures of items in back of the white SUV she was driving.

Wardlow said, "They got a tag number, got a vehicle description that lead us to our suspect and thankfully this ended peacefully and nobody was hurt."

King is facing charges for attempted burglary and possession of a firearm during a felony.
