DOVER, Del. – Miss Delaware has been stripped of her crown because she is too old.

Amanda Longacre, 24, took home the title two weeks ago during the state pageant.

While she put her age and birth date on her pageant application, pageant officials say she is too old because she will turn 25 in October.

Pageant rules say you can’t turn 25 before the end of the year.

That means Longacre can’t compete for the Miss America title in September.

On Tuesday, the Miss Delaware title and crown was awarded to the first runner-up, Brittany Lewis.

Lewis is also 24, but since she will not turn 25 until next year, she is still eligible.
