NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Nine people were injured after two men opened fire in a crowd in the French Quarter early Sunday morning.

Authorities say the shooting started in the 700 block of Bourbon Street, near the World Famous Cats Meow and Pat O’Briens.

“These are two cowardly young men who chose to settle a dispute with total disregard for human life,” Superintendent Ronal Serpas, with the New Orleans Police Department, told WGNO. “Our officers are working around the clock to identify and arrest the suspects involved in this shooting. We will hold them accountable and we will bring them to justice.”

At last check, two of the victims were in critical condition, six were in stable condition and the condition of the ninth victim was not known.

Police released the following surveillance video of the crime.
