KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The tallest water slide in the world is now open in Kansas City, Kan.

The 17-story “Verruckt” is taller than Niagara Falls and opened Thursday to thrillseekers at the Schlitterbahn Kansas City Waterpark.

“Verruckt” means “insane” in German.

The slide is just over 168 feet tall and riders will have to climb 264 steps to get to the top.

The ride can reach speeds of up to 65 mile per hour.

The official launch date of the water slide was delayed three times because it underwent more testing to make sure it was safe for public use.
