Man and dog pedaling across the country to promote pet adoption

TULSA, Okla. – One man and his dog are making the journey across the country by bicycle.

According to KJRH, Bixby and Mike Minnick are pedaling to promote awareness of pet adoption from local shelters and rescues.

The two have ridden nearly 6,000 miles over the past year and three months.

Their stop in Tulsa is a personal one for Mike.

KJRH reports he was born in Tulsa and grew up in Sand Springs.

Mike named his dog Bixby after Bixby, Oklahoma.

After Tulsa, Mike and Bixby are headed towards Joplin, Missouri, according to his Instagram account.
