Experts say they are investigating a link between gestational diabetes and birth control.

It turns out being on birth control may up your odds of developing gestational diabetes.

A study examined 2,000 pregnant women and found those who reported taking hormonal birth control had a higher risk for gestational diabetes, compared to women who didn’t use contraception.

Barrier methods of birth control were not linked to the increased risk.

Researchers say more studies are needed to determine the connection.
