Before his tragic death in a plane crash in 2011, Kurt Budke took over a struggling women’s basketball program at Oklahoma State and built it into a winner.

On Saturday, July 19th, Budke was honored for his coaching accomplishments at OSU and previously, as he was elected to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

Budke is one of six elected to the hall.

In six full seasons a OSU, he led the Cowgirls to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 in 2008.

Before coming to Stillwater, Budke led Louisiana Tech to three straight NCAA Tournaments.

Prior to those three seasons in Ruston, Budke was a junior college coach, leading Trinity Valley to four national championships.

Budke and the other members of the hall of fame class will be inducted next June in Knoxville, Tennessee.
