UPDATE: There was a big party for Danny Nickerson on the day before his birthday.

The boy got more mail delivered to his hometown post office than all of Foxboro, Massachusetts combined.

Danny turned 6-years-old on Friday and got exactly what he wanted.

“When we said what do you want for your birthday, he said, ‘Mail, I want mail.’ So he got mail,” said Carley Nickerson.

An army of friends and relatives spent days sorting through the cards and bringing them to his home.

Letters were sent from towns across the country and even from a squadron of Marines from Afghanistan.

In all, there has been about 50,000 letters received so far but the post office says there is more mail on the way.

FOXBORO, Mass. – A 5-year-old boy with inoperable brain cancer wants one thing for his birthday, one thing anyone can help grant.

All Danny Nickerson wants for his sixth birthday is a box of birthday cards.

According to ABC News, Nickerson was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor this past October.

Doctors say less than 10 percent of children with this type of cancer live longer than 18 months.

To help make this birthday as special as possible, his mother asked for help on Facebook.

His sixth birthday is Friday, July 25.  His mother says he can recognize his name and would like to see his name on the cards.

All cards can be mailed the Nickerson’s home address:
