There is a little red dodge ball and he has an appointment…with your face!

The second annual “Dodge For a Cause” dodge ball tournament begins at 2 p.m., August 9th at the Edward L. Gaylord Downtown YMCA, located at 1 Northwest 4th Street, Oklahoma City.

The tournament is organized by Upward OKC, the young professionals group that supports Upward Transitions.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Upward Transitions which serves the needy and homeless in the Oklahoma City metro through crisis intervention, case management, advocacy and referrals related to safe shelter, food, transportation and utilities.

“There are people that each of us knows that struggle to pay rent and utilities and to keep food on the table,” said Allison Lees, president, Upward OKC.  “Last year’s event raised thousands of dollars to help Upward Transitions serve the community.  We hope to raise more money this year, and have even more fun doing it.”

Registration for six-member teams is $150 per team until July 24 and $210 per team from July 25 – August 7.  Sponsorship packages begin at $300.

In-kind donations are also appreciated.

This year’s tournament will also include a team costume contest.  Last year’s teams brought their a-game and sported some creative looks, so the bar is high for this year’s roster of teams.
